There are 43 rooms in the Schlössli/Castle wing in the main building including the romantic Rachmaninoff Suite with a free-standing whirlpool in the bedroom, flat-screen TV/DVD, Bose Audio Device, wine cooler unit, private lift access and views of the lake and mountains. In July 2007, Park Hotel Weggis opened a new building with 10 James Bond-like Adara suites that come with the same amenities as the Rachmaninoff Suite except instead of the whirlpool they have a Dornbracht Bigrain rain shower made out of black Greek marble, as well as a balcony or terrace that overlooks the lake and mountains. No private lift access or tub.
Park Hotel Weggis has two restaurants located on-site including Restaurant Sparks, which offers a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner and the gourmet Annex that serves Mediterranean-Asian cuisine and has won several Wine Spectator Awards and has one of Switzerland’s most extensive wine lists. You can also enjoy a cocktail at the Beach Bar Lounge located off the lobby. On the beach there is the Sunset Caviar Bar open for drinks and caviar in the evenings. For a romantic dinner, the hotel can set up a private table beachside with candles and food from Annex. There is also The Grape, located about a five-minute walk from Park Hotel Weggis (but is owned by the hotel) and serves steaks and pizzas and wines from California’s Napa Valley.
Couples can enjoy one of six Asian-inspired, 750-square-foot spa cottages. Each cottage (named after a different gemstone such as Ruby, Amethyst and Rose Quartz) comes with a blossom-bath (similar to a whirlpool with fresh flower petals scenting the water), sauna or steam bath, Kneipp spring or hydro-therapeutic pool, solarium, treatment tables for couple’s massage, foot-bath, shower, waterbed, widescreen TVs and CD/DVD players with surround sound. There is also an outdoor, heated pool made out of black stone that changes colors every few minutes and overlooks the lake. The spa also has Switzerland’s only Tibetan Room that offers traditional Tibetan massage.
Weddings and vow exchanges
While Park Hotel Weggis does not offer wedding packages, the hotel does offer couples a romantic setting with a wedding on the beach or in its recently expanded Japanese garden (one of the largest in Switzerland). For a larger wedding, there is the Aquarius Hall that holds up to tk people and offers state-of-the-art facilities including a built-in LED lighting system that produces unique lighting effects. Couples can also host a small dinner party (up to 30 people) in Park Hotel Weggis’ Vinothek – a restored vaulted wine cellar with over 60,000 bottles of wine. Guests can rent the entire hotel and its private beach on Lake Lucerne for about $1200 per guest for three nights.
The Parc & Romance package offers couples two-nights accommodations, including breakfast, bottle of Champagne upon arrival, dinner at Restaurant Sparks, a five-course dinner at the gourmet Annex, 60-minute couples spa treatment, time in one of the Spa Cottages, and complimentary late check-out (2 p.m.).
When you do leave your room, there is hiking on Mount Rigi or Mount Titlis. Both are accessible by cable car from the Village of Weggis. Lucerne is about 20 minutes away by car or 45 minutes by boat on Lake Lucerne. If want to see then go wish Southwest Airlines Reservations and get big saving!
In a nutshell
For those looking for a truly romantic getaway in a small town that offers more to do outside (swimming or boating on the lake and hiking in nearby mountains) than a lively night life, then Park Hotel Weggis is for you. Park Hotel Weggis’ accommodations are romantic with ultra comfortable beds, sexy showers or whirlpools, flat-screen TVs and DVD players that make staying inside all day enjoyable. And, with the Swiss Franc better against the U.S. dollar than the Euro, the cost is right.
